My Hamster Has Decided To Only Go To The Bathroom In His Wheel?

It’s not one of those wheels that’s inside the cage; it’s connected to the cage by a little tube so it’s sort of like a different room from the cage.
This is annoying because some of the hamster piss gets on the TV tray his cage is on, and that smells bad. What is up with my hamster, and how do I change this behaviour?

Buy a hamster potty with potty litter from petsmart and put the new litter box elsewhere (it’s that easy) check out this one
Steps to potty training a hamster:
Find the right type of litter. This is important, because some litter can harm your hamster. A brand such as Critter-Litter, which is edible potty pellets, can work well.
Place the potty in a corner. Potties can be found at almost any pet general store, like Petsmart or Petco.
Clean his/her cage. The next time you clean your hamster’s cage, take a napkin or a tissue and remove some spots with urine. Do not throw this away! Clean their cage well, to get everything clean. If you do not do a good job, the scent of the urine will attract them back and they won’t get potty-trained.
Fill the Potty. After you fill the potty with the pellets, use the soaked bedding you collected earlier and put that in the potty, and then cover it with more pellets. The next time your hamster needs to go, he’ll smell his scent and learn to go in his potty. Continue to do this until you feel certain he knows where he’s supposed to be going.
Or make a homemade one like this
    Hamster Potty
First find a small, sturdy plastic container with a lid. Then cut a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inches) diameter hole in the side of the container. Locate this hole about 2.5 cm (1 inch) above the base (1.3 cm [1/2 inch] for dwarf hamsters) so that litter won’t scatter when the hamster is doing his/her business! Last, sand the edge smooth for safe entries and exits. A homemade hamster potty might have to be replaced from time to time if the plastic absorbs the urine odor or if the hamster shows any interest in gnawing it. You can also use a gnaw-proof glass potty instead. The great thing about a glass potty is that you will only need a 1-pint (500 ml) wide mouth jar or a ½ pint (250 ml) jam jar for a dwarf hamster – pop it into a corner of the cage and there you have it! An instant hamster restroom! It’s easy to clean, it’s not a tooth target and it will last as long as your hamster does. Just make sure that the toilet jar is big enough for your hamster to turn around in.
    Good luck!!

Well, you can’t really change it.
I would get some hamster litter and just turn the wheel into a litter box. Then get another wheel for him to run on. I recommend this one: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…
It sits on the ground or attatches to the bars of thhe cage.
You could also try putting litter in a different part/corner of the cage. Maybe he will relocate his toilet.

clean the cage thoroughly. (i know it sounds weird) take some of the droppings and put some in a litter box thing or a small old tupper ware container that you cold use for one along with some litter/bedding(carefresh, yesterdays news, aspen). the hamster will see and smell his droppings in the pan and hopefully know that that is where he should go.

I had a wheel connected to the cage aka Crittertrail X and it got annoying i decided to just take off the wheel and stairs and now i just bought him a separate wheel and he goes to the bathroom everywhere. I recommend to just put a dog pee pad right under the wheel.

Sounds like your critter is tryin to keep his living area clean. If you can get another tube and make him a bathroom or block off his wheel for a few days, if he insists on going in the wheel move the wheel to the other side of his cage or move the cage where the pee wont get on anything
