We brought in a chipmonk that was wounded bad from being attacked by a cat. We nursed it back to health but by the time he was healed it was winter. I didn't think he'd survive just being let go in the middle of winter so we kept him as a pet. Just don't tell the game warden. Ha ha. Anyways, we got "Woody" a hamster ball and he seems to like it. We let him run around for a half hour to an hour once a day. We give him a snack about a half hour before hand to try to get him to poop. It doesn't work. He poops like a goose! There's usually 8-10 pellets in the ball after an hour. But at least they are big enough to not slip out of it and scatter all over the carpet....

I let my hamster out EVERYDAY at 7:30-9 on weeknights and around 10 on weekends. I give him a few sunflower seeds before he goes in so he can snack...do this espeshally if you notice that they aren't eating enough so it forces them to eat. He's very healthy and he usually goes to sleep right after then wakes up runs for 2 hours then back to sleep during the night.

for a black bear hamster that you are considering getting i would recommend a wired cage. possibly multi livel with a plastic base an lid. i have a gladen bear hamster and i can even say i've actaully gone to far. my hamster has a three levled cage with is getting over sixty cm tall and thity widez.there is a wide tub which i call her bridge. the bridge leads to the habitrail ovo suite then joined onto that i the habitral ovo studio and then the habitral pink mase. i personally think this is a brill setup. has only cost me just under fity quid. hammie loves it and never is tempted to bite on the bars of her cage. only tp i culd give ya is that dont buy this all at once cuz your ham will get used of all the space quickly and then want more. and also i fist had themulti levelde cage then added evry couple of months. i would like to point out that if yor giving the space ive provided doesnt mean that you can lack on toys but use the space wisely to put yor wheels and your toys. running space is good. please note if you are purshaing yr hamster a pets at home they will askyou about yor cage. dont think buying anything will get you pass. ive heard manys tories where peple have been turned down to buy hamters because theyre living space theyve provied is of poor quality or not roomy enough. good luvk with yor new additon and it will have a happy life.
